Title: Linger
Fandom/Character: NARNIA; Edmund Pevensie
Summary: Just because Edmund doesn't bring it up, doesn't mean it doesn't linger.

Edmund’s betrayal had been stupid, foolish, a childish whim. Everything that demeans him. Degrades his title, and tugs at his heartstrings in remembrance. Shame stains his soul at the mere thought.

Edmund had done more than a wrong. He’d done the whole of Narnia a wrong. More so to his family. He had cursed them, almost killed them. His actions had been damning. The antics of a forgotten youth had put them all at risk. Now no more.

Edmund’s no longer a child. He’s learned from a mistake that had almost cost him his family. All for a few Turkish Delights.

They weren’t even all that great.

He doesn’t blame the White Witch. Doesn’t curse her for her winter’s chill, for her trickery. Edmund blames his naivety, his need for attention and his lack of faith and love for those who had burdened themselves by putting up with it all.

Peter, Lucy, Susan. Edmund knows better know now.

Reformed, Edmund has matured. As a King, he’s learned to be kind and just as his title. As a knight, Edmund’s learned how to wield power right, hasn’t let it overcome him. As a brother, he’s learned to love and be loved. As a person, he has learned consideration and loyalty. Something he’ll never trade for all the Turkish delights in the world.

And even though the whole of Narnia’s forgotten, has let it slip and slide, Edmund never will. He’s his own number one critic, the judge master of his own person. Edmund will never forget it, not until he dies.

Just because he never brings it up. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t linger.

I really like this, especially the seventh paragraph. It's a very realistic look into Edmund's mind.

A well thought out character piece.

Just one edit: "Edmund knows better know" ought to be "Edmund knows better now." Just a silly typo.

Thanks for sharing! I loved it.

Sorry for that, haha. But thank you for pointing it out. I knew something was up with it. I appreciate it!

Glad you liked! ♥

Wow. This completely depicts Ed's character. Who he was when he entered Narnia, and after.

Gah, I'm sort of speechless right now. I think I meant to say something about how Edmund's mistakes linger and how I liked that detail, but I can't quite remember ^_^

Good job!

And THAT is exactly why I lovelovelove Edmund: because of his character development.
And you wrote him so well. Wonderful job!
